Superbowl XLV (Green Bay Packers VS Pittsburg Steelers)

The 2011 Super Bowl between the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers will continue the recent tradition of close NFL title games, according to the oddsmakers. Green Bay is favored by only 2.5, which I’m told is just about the slimmest opening Super Bowl margin ever. A little over 12 hours in and the line hasn’t budged yet.

As always, Super Bowl Sunday is the ultimate day for prop bets, and those will start emerging over the next two weeks. The moneyline opened for Green Bay at -121, though that’s budged to -114. Look for the spread to start dipping too, in that case. The over/under opened at 45.5, but has increased to 46. Last year these teams put together a 73-point brawl, so the over is certainly in play despite both teams having great defenses. Pittsburgh’s already put up 31 and Green Bay 48 in playoff games so far this postseason.
